In
the hearth of the historic centre of Genoa, this 80 square metres flat
was originally composed by two big vaulted rooms and a very small bathroom.
To transform it in a comfortable modern home we had to reorganize completely
the structure of the interiors creating a coherent sequence of spaces
to link together the different rooms. First of all we enlarged the inner
space creating an upper floor in one room but with the access from the
other room. This upper space shows one of the two vaults from a close
point of view. All the internal walls don’t reach the vaults, but
stop some metres before to let the vaults to be seen from every point
of the house. But these walls have something more: the oblique cut of
their upper part and the different colour that each one has, give a dynamic
sense to the whole space of the home.
